Color negative films, as the name implies, provide color photos. They are more common than color slide films and easier to obtain. They are developed in the C-41 process. After development, you have the negatives that are actually negatives, so light areas is actually dark areas and vice versa. Most films have an orange mask.
Before you really want to look at your pictures, you either have to make prints or digitize/scan them.
