The DM Paradies 400 is a color negative film. It is available at a fabulous price of 1.65 euros in a double pack, making it one of the cheapest films in Germany.

It has a sensitivity of ISO 400 and is sold by the drugstore chain “DM”. It is manufactured in the USA, probably by Kodak. In the past, there was a film from Agfa in the box.

The Paradies 400 is only available in a double pack. But it costs only about 1,65€. This makes it one of the cheapest new films in Germany. This does not mean that the quality is cheap, despite the low price you get a reasonable film for your money.

It is, not only because of the price, a super film for lomographers. In plastic cameras, like the Holga 135, Diana Mini and La Sardina, it gives good results because of its sensitivity and exposure latitude. It also works well as a redscale.

In the meantime, DM only offers the 400 and the 200. The DM Paradies 100 and DM Paradies 800 have been discontinued.

Update #1

Now, as of July 2013, 35mm film no longer comes from Kodak, but from Fujifilm. Of course, you can continue to take great color photos with it, but it is of course slightly different from the old DM Kodak.

Update #2

In the meantime, the DM Paradies 400 has been completely discontinued and is no longer offered by DM-Markt. An alternative might be the Superia 400.
