A color negative film marketed under the brand name “BKIFI” by the American supplier “Brooklyn Instant Film Initiative” is the BKIFI + Grid Film. The film stock is manufactured by a different company. It also bears the designation BKIFI “T”/Trippy/Bonus Grid.

The BKIFI + Grid film allows you to capture stories and moments in vivid color images, with a film speed of ISO 400 according to the datasheet. This recommended sensitivity is ideal for snapshots in most situations.

It is a so-called effect film, the special feature of photographic film. Pre-exposed with a rainbow grid. This grid then overlays its own images.

Development of the film

The development of the full film is done in the C-41 process after the shooting is completed. Most laboratories in Germany offer development using C-41 chemistry. The standardized C-41 color negative process is used to obtain the captured images in the form of film strips.

Options after film development: prints or digitization?
In many developing laboratories, it is also possible to have prints made of the images or to digitize the analog film strips with a scanner to obtain the images in digital form. The available devices differ in functions and quality and are suitable for every budget. The digitized photos can then be either physically printed or shared on social networks such as Facebook, Instagram and others.

Formats

For 35mm cameras, only the BKIFI + Grid Film is available, which provides space for 36 shots on a roll of film. A wide variety of cameras are suitable for 35mm format, including well-known manufacturers such as Olympus, Revue, Nikon and Minolta.

Storage

Analog film stock should be stored in a cool, dry area to preserve the quality of the stock. Moisture and heat can damage the film stock and thus affect the final result. It is recommended that unexposed film material not be stored for more than six months to avoid long-term storage. Exposed film should be developed as soon as possible.
