Dubblefilm Pacific 120 is a color negative film that is commercially available under the Dubblefilm brand. A roll of this film costs about 16 euros and will be available in April 2023.
The original film stock is not made by Dubblefilm itself, but by an unnamed manufacturer. However, Dubblefilm treats it to turn it into an effects film.
The film is designed for use with medium format cameras and has an ISO of 200, as stated on the datasheet. The film is characterized by its unique ability to alter color tones. Instead of providing correct colors, it produces images with delicate hues. Under-exposure enhances the cool color effects, while overexposure softens them.
Until recently, such effect films were available only for 35mm format. However, Dubblefilm has since developed a process to achieve similar effects with medium format cameras.
Development of the Dubblefilm Pacific 120
To develop photos taken with the Dubblefilm Pacific 120, the C-41 development process is required. This process is offered as a service by most photo labs and is standardized.
In Germany, large drugstore chains also offer this process. The result of the development is film strips on which the captured images can be seen. After development, the negatives can be digitized or photo prints can be made in various sizes. Many developing labs offer this service directly.
Digitization
There is also the option of transferring the images to digital form through a scanner if preferred. While photo labs offer the ability to digitize negatives, a scanner can also be purchased for personal use. Digitization opens up numerous opportunities to use the files in print or on social media platforms.
Formats & Cameras
Dubblefilm Pacific 120 is an effects film designed specifically for use with medium format cameras. Depending on the image format selected, the number of images that can fit on a roll of film varies. Normally, 12 images fit on a roll of film.
Medium format cameras are available from a variety of manufacturers, including Rollei, Pentax, Yashica, Lomography and many more. These cameras are compatible with medium format film and can be used to expose Dubblefilm Pacific 120. However, the film is not compatible with 35mm cameras.
