The Dixons 200 is a color negative film. It was sold by the Dixons chain of stores in the Netherlands. However, the cartridge contained material from a major film manufacturer, as was the case with private label films.
The Dixons Kleinbeeld Kleurenfilm 200 is a photographic film for color images. The nominal speed of the film is given as ISO 200. The ISO value allows you to determine the light sensitivity of the film stock. With a film with a high ISO value, you can take pictures even in low light.
Exposing the film
Once the film is exposed, it is developed using the C-41 process and most photo labs offer this development process since the color negative process is standardized. One can have the film developed at DM-Markt or Rossmann and then receive the captured images in the form of film strips.
After development, there is a choice between printing the images or scanning them for digital use. Additionally, most developing labs also give the option to have prints made. When purchasing a scanner for digitization, there are various devices with different functions and qualities. The digitized images can then be shared on various platforms such as social media or printed in various formats.
Availability and alternatives
The Dixons 200 was only available for 35mm cameras. One roll of the color film was rated for 36 photos. There was also a variant with only 24 frames. The number of possible pictures is indicated on the packaging.
A DX code was printed on the cartridge. Lomography, Canon, and Leica are well-known manufacturers of 35mm format cameras, but there are many other cameras compatible with this film.
Freshly produced material is no longer available from the film. A possible alternative in 35mm format is the Kodak Gold 200*.
