Agfa Vista 200

The Agfa Vista 200 is a color negative film that belongs to the Agfa Vista film family and is primarily intended for the consumer market. Agfa had other films on offer for professionals.

Suitable for color images with nice colors and moderate sharpness, the Vista 200 is a reliable choice for color photos. The film has a sensitivity of ISO 200, which makes it suitable for everyday use and use in various cameras.

It is possible that the film material available for the Agfa Vista 200 has passed its expiry date and quality losses may occur as a result. Nevertheless, the film material can still be used, since the expiry date is only an indication of quality. However, older film material can lose sensitivity due to age and storage conditions, which can be compensated for by greater exposure during recording.

In order to achieve the best possible image quality, optimal storage of the unexposed film material in a dry and cool place is recommended.

Development

Of course, you can still have the film developed today. Exposed film should be processed promptly, either in the C-41 process in a lab or at home using the right chemistry and supplies. Most photo labs make prints directly from the images. If desired, the negatives can also be digitized.

Format & Alternatives

The Vista 400 was available in 35mm format and could take 36 exposures on a roll of film. Suitable cameras for the 35mm format are available from various manufacturers such as Porst, Kodak or Fujifilm. The cartridge has a DX coding. Thus, the sensitivity of the color film can be read by cameras that offer this function.

This film is no longer produced. You can still buy the Vista 200 Plus from AgfaPhoto, but it no longer contains original Agfa material. Another alternative is the Kodak Gold 200*.

Besides the 200, Agfa also had a Vista 100, 400 and 800 in its program.
