The Fujifilm Fujicolor NPL 160 Professional is a color negative film. It is an ISO 160 film for artificial light. The sensitivity is specified as ISO 160; the development is done in the C-41 process.

Applications include studio and indoor photography. It can also be used for long exposures and portrait photography. The Fujifilm Fujicolor NPL 160 Professional is equipped with Fujifilm’s 4-color layer technology.

Today, Fujifilm no longer offers this film. At the time, it was produced in 120, 4×5″, 8×10″, 9×12 cm, 13×18 cm and 30×40 cm formats.

Today, there is no comparable competitor in the category of artificial light films.

Exposure of the film

Most of the Fujifilm Fujicolor NPL 160 Professional film stock that can still be found today has already passed its original expiry date. Unlike food, it does not mean that you cannot still use the film. The light sensitivity of older film stock can be affected by factors such as age and storage. It may be appropriate to set the exposure settings to a lower ISO in certain circumstances to prevent underexposure of the photos. When using expired colour film, there is a risk of colour changes, hue shifts and higher film grain when taking photographs.

The storage conditions of unexposed film stock can affect the quality of subsequent photos. To avoid possible losses in quality, the film material should be stored in a cool and dry place. The optimal procedure after exposing the film is to develop it promptly to avoid possible deterioration in quality.

Developing the Fujifilm Fujicolor NPL 160 Professional

After the film has been exposed, it must be developed. To do this, it must be processed in C-41 photochemistry. The development of colour negative film is offered by most photo labs in Germany. This development process is standardised, so you get almost identical results regardless of the lab. If you wish, you can also process the analogue film yourself.

As a result of developing the film, one receives the pictures taken in the form of film strips. It is possible to digitise the negatives or make photographic prints from them. One option that many laboratories offer when developing film is to make prints of the images in different sizes as an additional option.

To further process the photos in digital form, the film strips can be digitised with the help of a scanner. In this category, there are many different devices for digitising negatives and other film formats, which differ in functions and price. After digitising photos, you can edit them further in Photoshop and publish them on social media.
