The Ferrania Solaris FG Plus 400 is a color negative film. It was produced in Italy.
The Solaris FG Plus 400 is designed for color photography. The nominal sensitivity of the film is given as ISO 400. This sensitivity allows for quite flexible use of the film.
You can get nice color images with the Ferrania 400 as well. However, the 100 delivers somewhat more vivid colors. On the other hand, the 400 film is much more sensitive. This is especially advantageous on cloudy days and when using low-light cameras.
Development of the film
The film is developed in C-41 chemistry. Color negative film development is offered by most photo labs. The C-41 process is standardized. It is performed by the vast majority of photo labs. After development, prints can be made from the negatives.
Availability and alternatives
The Solaris FG Plus 400 was only available for 35mm cameras. Typically, 36 photos fit on a roll of film. The cartridge of the film was DX encoded. The film is no longer in new production.
Availability of alternatives for film lovers
For film lovers who prefer the charm of analog photography, there are a variety of alternatives to traditional film brands. The Kodak Gold 200* is an example of a color negative film that offers and similar color characteristics as traditional films.
Alternatives from other manufacturers such as Fujifilm and Lomography also offer a variety of color negative films in different sensitivities and formats. These alternatives offer a great way to try out and experiment with different looks and styles.
