The Clark Color Film 200 is a color negative film. It was offered by the American company Clark Color Labs until the early 2000s. It was sold under the house brand. The film material was produced in Europe, more precisely in Italy. From this, one could conclude that the film was produced by Ferrania.

The Color Film 200 is a film for color photos. ISO 200 is a commonly used film speed for color photography that provides an excellent balance between sensitivity and grain size. Film with this sensitivity is ideal for a wide range of applications, including landscape photography, portraits, and studio photography.

ISO 200 film offers excellent color reproduction and a fine grain structure that results in sharp and detailed images. Compared to a higher ISO film such as ISO 400 or 800, ISO 200 film has a lower sensitivity and therefore less noise in the shadow areas and background.

Clark Color Labs no longer exists today. The address on the film package “P.O. Box 3540, Hampton Park, MD, 20791,” obviously no longer applies to the film’s development.

Film Development Process

In the case of finding a film, its development is done using C-41 chemistry. In Germany, most photo labs can perform this process. Since the development process is standardized, you always get consistent results regardless of the lab. It is also possible to develop the film at home using the appropriate chemicals and equipment. After development, you get film strips with the captured images.

The next step is to either digitize the negatives or make prints. It is common to have prints made of the images in addition to the negatives at many developing labs.

Digitizing process

In order to further process the images digitally, it is recommended to digitize the analog film strips with a scanner. A variety of devices exist that are suitable for digitizing negatives and differ in terms of price and functionality. The digitized images can then be shared on social media or further processed in digital form.

Availability and possible alternatives

The Clark Color Film 200 was only available for 35mm cameras. A roll of film could hold up to 24 frames. The cartridge that housed the film stock had a DX code. Some camera models could automatically determine film speed using this code.

As an alternative to the Clark photo film, you can buy the Kodak Gold 200*. This film is still available and provides very nice images.
