The Dubblefilm Treat is a color negative film. Dubblefilm is the trademark owner and uses it to distribute the film stock. Kodak is the company that produces the film stock. Inside the cartridge is the Kodak Vision3 250D.

The Treat / Kodak VISION3 250D is a film for color photography. It is particularly suitable for outdoor photography and offers a wide exposure latitude.

According to the manufacturer, the film should be exposed to a sensitivity of ISO 400. The ISO value indicates how sensitive the film material is to light. A higher sensitivity of the film allows shorter exposure times or a smaller aperture are possible. This ISO value provides a good compromise for many situations, allowing good use in low light as well as in high light.

Care should be taken when storing unexposed film stock to prevent possible loss of quality in later photographs. A storage location with optimal conditions is a cool and dry place. For best results, it is recommended to develop the exposed film as soon as possible.

Developing the film

Actually, the film material needs special development. For exposure in a film camera, Kodak Vision3 250D has a so-called remjet coating. This is removed beforehand during development. However, this step is not performed at most laboratories.

In the case of the Dubblefilm Treat, the remjet layer has already been removed. So it can be processed in a normal photo lab.

The film is developed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most laboratories. The C-41 color negative process is standardized. The treat can be sent for development in Germany through the major drugstore chains. The result of the development is the finished negatives, which can then be scanned.

Formats of the Dubblefilm Treat

The Treat is only available for 35mm format. With an image size of 24 x 36 mm, the number of images per film roll is 24. There is no medium format version for roll film cameras.

The manufacturer did not use DX encoding on the film cartridge. Modern 35mm cameras may be limited due to the lack of encoding. Manufacturers that offer / have offered suitable photo cameras for the 35mm format include Mamiya, Leica and Canon.
