The Agfa Agfacolor XRS 100 is a colour negative film. It is one of the members of the Agfacolor XRS film family, which is aimed at professional photographers. In addition to the 100 film, there was also an XRS 200, 400 and 1000.
The Agfacolor XRS 100 is designed for colour photos. The recommended film speed to which the film should be exposed is ISO 100, and at this speed it should be used outdoors, at least in a place with sufficient light.
Development of the film
After exposure, the film must not come into contact with light. It is developed in the C-41 process. The development is offered by many photo laboratories. After the development, one can make prints from the negatives for example.
Digitizing the negatives
Digitizing film is an important step in archiving and restoring old footage. There are several ways to accomplish this. One way is to use special film scanners. These scanners are specially designed for digitizing film material and deliver high quality results.
Another possibility is to photograph the film with a digital camera. In this case, the film is scanned in sections and each image is captured with the digital camera. This method is a little more laborious, but can produce good results if the lighting and focusing are set correctly.
Availability and Alternatives
The color film was available for 35mm and medium format cameras. It was also available in various sizes for large format cameras. The 35mm film was available in 24 and 36 frames and came in a cartridge with DX coding.
The production of the film was stopped. A possible alternative for the 35mm film is the Kodak Gold 200*. A possible alternative for the medium format film is the Kodak Ektar 100*.
