Black and white films

Black and white films, as the name suggests, provide monochrome/black and white images. You might think that one film would be enough, because black and white is just black and white. This is not so, each film brings its own look, also in interaction with the developer and exposure, and has its own peculiarities and features.

For example, some films deliver classic black and white images, while others come with strong contrasts.
Some have fine grain and excellent sharpness and for others the opposite is true. One is suitable for shooting in very low light, and with the other black-and-white film, you can really open the aperture even in bright sunlight.

In most cases, the films are developed in a black-and-white developer. Every developer is better or worse suited for a film. In addition, there is the corresponding development time and the temperature during development.

So it’s not like color negative films where all films are put into the same soup. While you can make a science out of black and white development, you can also get great results pretty quickly and easily.

You realize the choice of a black and white film is not just black and white.
