The Adox HR-50 is a black and white film. It was introduced by Adox in the summer of 2018.
The material for the Adox HR-50 was actually intended for technical applications. However, prior to packaging, this material was modified by Adox. The so-called “Speed Boost” technology increases the sensitivity to ISO 50, lowers the contrast and thus makes it usable for normal photography.
According to the manufacturer, the Adox HR-50 Speed Boost should be well suited for landscape and travel photography. For the latter, however, you should use it more for static subjects or when there is a lot of light.
Currently, the Adox HR-50 is only available as 35mm film. One cartridge is enough for 36 pictures, depending on the camera. The base material is 100 μm thick PET. Development must be done in a black and white developer. A specially matched HR-50 developer is offered by Adox.
The black and white film is superpanchromatically sensitized to 770nm. Use with an infrared filter is possible.
For the launch of the new film, a pilot series of the material was also offered. The ADOX IR-HR Pro contains the same material, but without the Speed Boost.
