Adox CHS 25 | Guide for the film

The Adox CHS 25 ART PET is a black-and-white film. The formula is based on KB 14, a black-and-white film made by ADOX Fotowerke Dr. C. Schleussner GmbH in the 1950s.

The data sheet specifies a film speed of ISO 25. The ISO value is a standardized value that describes the sensitivity of the film material. The ISO value indicates how much light is needed to achieve a correctly exposed image. The higher the value, the less light is required. A film with a low ISO value allows you to set a large aperture on the camera, which is ideal for photos with a large depth of field.

Developing the Adox CHS 25

If there is no information on developing times, mixing ratios, and temperatures for a particular developer-film combination, you can use similar films as a guide and experiment. The developed film strips contain the captured images.

The next step is usually either making prints or digitizing. Many labs offer the option of making prints of the images in various sizes.

One way to have negatives in digital form is to use a scanner. There are many photo labs that offer digitization of negatives, but you can also use a scanner for home use. After digitization, the images can be shared in various formats on different social media platforms or obtained in printed form.

From the parameters it is identical to the Efke 25.

Formats

It was produced for Adox by Fotokemika in Croatia. However, the latter ceased production in 2012. Until then, black-and-white film was available as 35mm, medium format, and sheet film.

It is likely that most of the film stock has passed its expiration date, as production of fresh film stock has ceased. It is important to note that the expiration date is only a quality indication from the manufacturer and the film stock can still be used.

Sample photos

The pictures shown were taken with an Olympus OM-2 with a 50 mm f/1.4. The Adox CHS 25 was already 8 years old when the picture was taken. The film was developed with the Ars-Imago MB Monobath developer. The film was developed at 22 degrees for 9 minutes. The film was pre-watered before development.
