The Classicpan 400 is a black and white film. It has a classic emulsion with a nominal speed of ISO 400. The superpanchromatic film is developed in a suitable black-and-white developer.
Towards the end of 2006, black and white film was completely discontinued after 15 years. It was manufactured by Forte. The Classicpan 400 was available as 35mm, medium format and sheet film.
As an alternative to the Classic Pan 400, you can go for the Fomapan 400.
Developing the Classicpan 400
In order to develop Classicpan 400 film, it is necessary to process it in a black and white developer. This development can either be done in a photo lab or you can do it yourself, provided you have the proper photographic chemistry. The choice of different developing chemicals can affect the image impression in terms of contrast, film grain, and grayscale. If there are no instructions for developing for the specific combination of film and developer, it is advisable to use similar film stock as a guide or to try different combinations to achieve the desired result.
After the development process, film strips are created with the captured images. The next option is to make prints of the images or digitize them. Many developing laboratories offer directly as a service the creation of prints in different sizes. To digitize the Classicpan 400 negatives, you can use a photo scanner. There are professional photo scanners that provide the best result, but also scanners for home use in different price ranges. After digitization, the photos can be further processed or shared on social media.
