The efke 50 is a black and white film. It is based on an old Adox recipe from the 1950s and was produced by Fotokemika in Samobor, Croatia. The production was finished in 2012.
It was available for 35mm (efke KB 50), medium format (efke R 50) and large format cameras (efke PL 50 M). The 35mm film was available in cartridges and by the meter. In addition, there was also the efke 25 and the efke 100.
The emulsion of the black-and-white film has a classic structure and a high silver content. The sensitivity of the efke 50 is specified as ISO 50; it does not tolerate overexposure. It is developed in a black-and-white developer, such as Rodinal.
As an alternative to the efke 50, you could go for the Ilford Pan F Plus.
Sample photos
The sample images were taken with the black and white film and the Nikon EM. The Nikon 50mm f/1.8 E lens was used for the shots. Then the film was developed in R09 One Shot. With a dilution of 1+50, it was developed at 20 degrees for 9 minutes. Then it was digitized with the Canoscan (eBay / Amazon*).
