The Adox CHS 100 II is a black and white film. It is a new edition of the Adox CHS 100, which was discontinued in 2012.

The B&W film bears the imprint “Made in Germany” and is part of Adox’s Premium Line. The CHS 100 II was introduced in February 2013.

Like the Adox CHS 100, the CHS 100 II also features a classic emulsion without flat crystals in the single-layer system. It is also orthopanchromatically sensitized and cast on the same carrier. The sensitivity is specified as ISO 100.

However, the new version has also been improved in some respects. Among other things, problems that occurred with the film produced by Fotokemika have been fixed.

For exposure times of up to 1 second, no corrections are necessary with regard to the Schwarzschild effect. Only at longer times is it necessary to adjust the exposure time.

Development

Adox CHS 100 II is developed in a black and white developer, like Rodinal. However, since the film base is clear, it can also be developed as slide film. This produces monochrome slides that can be projected onto a wall with a projector, for example.

The choice of developer can have a remarkable effect on the final result. Not every developer has development specifications for the film. Therefore, it is necessary to do some trial and error and gradually work your way up to satisfactory results.

When the development of the film is completed, you get the captured images in the form of film strips as a result. It is possible in the next step either to digitize the negatives or to make prints. In most developing laboratories, there is an additional option of having prints of the images made.

There is the option of digitizing analog film strips with a scanner if you prefer the digital form. Photo labs often offer the digitization of negatives, but one can also use a scanner for home use. It is possible to post the digitized images on various platforms, including social media, or get them in printed form.
