The Forte Fortepan 200 is a black and white film. It is designed for development in a suitable black and white developer.

The sensitivity is logically specified as ISO 200. The B&W film for 35mm, large format and medium format cameras is no longer produced.

Besides it, there was still a 100 and 400 version.

Alternatives

A possible substitute for photo film may be Fomapan 200. It is probably the closest film to the Forte that is available. There the Fomapan 200 also for medium format and large format cameras.

Storage of film material

It can be a challenge to find unexposed film stock that has not expired when a particular film is no longer in production. Even if the manufacturer provides an expiration date, this is only a guarantee of the quality of the material and does not preclude the film from still being used for photography purposes. However, older film stock may lose sensitivity due to aging and/or storage at high temperatures, which may cause photos to be underexposed if the specified ISO is used. To avoid this, it is recommended to set a lower ISO value on the camera. Storage conditions also play an important role in the quality of subsequent footage. The best choice for storing film material is a cool and dry place. It is also recommended that exposed film be developed promptly for best results.

Developing black and white film

Fortepan 200 is a black and white film that must be developed in a developer for black and white films. Developing the film requires appropriate chemistry and supplies, which are available both at home and in a photo lab. The choice of developer is an important factor in black and white development, and there are many different developing chemistries to choose from, such as Rodinal, XTOL, D-76, Ilfosol 3, and Ilford ID-11, all of which can have a significant impact on image impression. If development times, mixing ratio, and temperature during development are not available for each developer, you can use similar films as a guide and try them out. Development results in the creation of film strips containing the photographs taken, which can be further processed either as prints or digitized.

Digitizing black and white negatives

For further digital processing of the photos, scanning the film strips is a possible option. Photo labs often offer the digitization of negatives as a service, but a scanner for home use can also be used. After the digitization process, various options are available, such as further digital processing or printing the results.
