Olympus Trip AF Mini

  • Manufacturer Olympus
  • Type Snapshot camera
  • Type of Film 35mm
  • Focal Length 34 mm
  • Max Aperture f/3.5
  • Focus Automatic

In the 1990s, Olympus launched the Trip AF as a point-and-shoot camera, which appealed to beginners in the field of photography in particular due to its ease of use. It is characterised by its user-friendly design, which makes it ideal for beginners in photography.

The housing is made of plastic. This model was produced in South Korea.

In addition to the normal version, there was also a Quartz Date model. The QD version can imprint the recording time and date on the images.

Unlike many analogue cameras, the Trip AF Mini has a permanently installed lens with a fixed focal length of 34 mm, which makes it perfect for everyday use and spontaneous snapshots without the option of zooming.

The focus and exposure settings are set by the camera. There is no option for setting the shutter speed and aperture.

The standard equipment also includes a built-in flash. A self-timer is also available.

There is a thread for a tripod on the underside of the Olympus Trip AF Mini. A camera strap can be attached to the side.

CR123 batteries are required for operation (eBay / Amazon*), which also control the automatic film transport. These batteries are easy to obtain.

There is a small display on the top. Among other things, this display shows the battery charge level and the number of photos taken.

Films for the Olympus Trip AF Mini

It is designed for use with 35mm 35mm film, which is still produced by many manufacturers due to its widespread availability and popularity.

Easily available photographic films for this model are the Kodak Gold 200* for colour photography and the Ilford Delta 400* for black and white photography. Other films are available from brands such as Rollei, Adox, Fujifilm or Lomography

The colour film, a negative film, is suitable for the C-41 development process, which most photo development services offer, so development is possible in most drugstores.

The format of the camera film is 24 mm x 36 mm. Typically, one roll of film allows you to take around 36 pictures. The camera automatically advances the film after each shot and also automatically rewinds it at the end of the film roll.
