One of the most famous cameras from the Japanese company is the Olympus Trip 35. The analog camera was introduced in the 1960s and quickly became a popular companion for travel and family vacations.
It was characterized by its compact size, but still delivered high-quality images. By the end of production in the 1980s, over 10 million units had been produced.
Perhaps also because of this great success, the product name "Trip" was continued by Olympus. Especially in the 1990s, many "Trip" models were offered by the Japanese company.
The target group was again the average user looking for a camera for everyday use or vacation. The optical quality and high quality of the original were not achieved with these models.
These models are typical compact cameras of that time. Similar models were also sold by Nikon, Konica, Minolta, Canon, and others.
Most models offer automatic exposure, automatic film transport, built-in flash, autofocus, and are designed for the 35mm format. They are a good choice for snapshots or for getting started in film photography. But those who want more control over the final result should opt for other camera models (from Olympus).
Using the cameras today
The Olympus Trip models are still very easy to find today. They are often available at a fairly low price and are therefore a good choice if you want to try out analog photography but don't yet have much experience with manual cameras.
Almost all models are very easy to use and a manual is usually not necessary. Batteries used are mostly normal AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*). Otherwise, you only need the appropriate films. Here you need 35mm films (eBay / Amazon*). This film type is still produced today and many photo service providers also offer the development of this film material.
