The Olympus Trip 10, a snapshot camera from the 90s, was introduced by the Japanese company Olympus. It represents the typical design of this era, easy to use and therefore an ideal choice for beginners. Manufactured in Japan, it features a black plastic body.

Unlike other cameras of the time, the lens on this model is not interchangeable, which makes it unique. A sliding cover protects the lens from external influences.

The lens has a focal length of 33 mm, ideal for everyday shots and quick snapshots, but without a zoom function. The focus is fixed and cannot be changed.

Exposure metering is supported by the built-in light meter, as there are no manual settings. The exposure settings are determined automatically by the camera's electronics, based on the film speed, which is triggered by the coding on the film cartridge.

A built-in flash is of course also available. The model does not have a tripod thread, but offers the option of attaching a camera strap.

Power is supplied by two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*), which also support the automatic film transport.

Films for the Olympus Trip 10

The Olympus Trip 10 is specifically designed for use with 35mm film, as indicated in the instruction manual. The long history and popularity of the 35mm format have meant that it is still produced by various manufacturers today.

Films that are available for the Olympus Trip 10 can be conveniently purchased from online retailers. These include the Ilford XP2 Super* for impressive black and white images and the Kodak Portra 160* for vibrant colour photographs. A large number of other companies also offer films for this format.

The colour film is a negative film that is processed in the C-41 development process. This process is offered by most photo labs, which means that film can be developed at most drugstores.

The 35mm camera has an exposure area of 24mm x 36mm and can typically take around 36 images per roll. The film is automatically rewound after each photo, and when the film is full, the camera automatically rewinds it. This process can also be triggered manually via a switch on the back.

There is no display on this model. The only display is the frame counter on the top, and a small window on the back allows a view of the inserted film.
