Washi I is a black and white film. It is offered by Film Washi from France. The film material was originally produced for industrial X-ray examinations. The material is coated on both sides and has no antihalation layer. These properties make for a special aesthetic.
Washi I enables the creation of monochrome images. The sensitisation of the film material is orthochromatic. It has a sensitivity of ISO 80.
It is cast on a polyester carrier. The carrier has a blue tint. This can easily be removed in post-processing. The carrier has a thickness of 175 μmm. The spectral sensitivity of this film goes up to 550 nm.
Photos with Washi I are characterised by a fine grain. Contrasts, on the other hand, are very pronounced.
Development of the film
Unlike colour negative film, there is no standardised development process for the I. It must be developed in a black-and-white developer. It must be developed in a black-and-white developer. Black and white development can be done at home with the right equipment and chemistry. However, it is also possible to take the film to a developing lab. The developed film strips can be scanned or prints can be made with an enlarger.

Formats
The only film format of the film is medium format. The film is not currently offered as 35mm film. The number of images on a roll of Washi I depends on the camera used or the exposed format. For cameras with an exposure range of 6 by 6 cm, 12 images fit on a roll of film. This is the common format for medium format cameras from Rollei, Lomography or Mamiya. With 6 x 4.5 cm, 16 pictures fit on one roll of Washi I.
