A panoramic camera records a particularly wide image format that deviates significantly from the classic aspect ratio. This is achieved either by an extra-wide image window combined with a wide-angle lens (e.g., in 6x17 cm format) or by a rotating or swinging lens that scans the film during exposure (as with the Horizon or Widelux).
These special cameras are ideal for landscape photography, impressive city views, and architectural documentation, as they come very close to the natural field of view of the human eye.
