The SUPERPOP! Red is an edition of the Sprocket Rocket, a panoramic camera that can also expose the film perforation. It was introduced along with the Pink, Azure and Teal in the SUPERPOP! edition in May 2012.
The plastic camera is almost completely red. Only the controls and the lens are black.
In terms of functionality, it is identical to the normal Sprocket Rocket. With the SUPERPOP! Red you can easily make panoramas. Also double and multiple exposures are easily possible with it.
Camera features at a glance
The Sprocket Rocket exposes photo film, including perforations, with its super-wide-angle lens. One photo with this camera is equivalent to about two normal shots, which means that about 18 images can be captured on a 36 frame 35mm film.
The Sprocket Rocket's plastic lens has a focal length of 30 mm and a maximum aperture of f/10.8 (almost f/11). The characteristic features of the corners are strong vignetting and decreasing sharpness.
For panorama shots, the camera offers two exposure times to the user: 1/100 second and Bulb for long exposures. Multiple exposures are possible by releasing the shutter several times, as there is no shutter lock. The film can be fast-forwarded and rewound as desired. There are also two distance settings: one for close-ups (0.6 meter to 1 meter) and one for everything else (1 meter to infinity).
A strap can be attached by a screw with a handle that screws into the tripod thread. The camera has a hot shoe for connecting an external flash and a thread for a tripod.
Film development in focus
It is important to avoid cutting the film when developing it to avoid cut up images. Most labs do not make prints with the Sprockets on them, so it is difficult to get prints from the Sprocket Rocket. A good solution is to scan the images yourself and then send them to a lab to have them printed.
