The Sprocket Rocket SUPERPOP! Azure is a panoramic camera. The Azure is a variant of the Sprocket Rocket 35mm camera from Lomography. It was introduced in May 2012. The Azure is part of the SUPERPOP! edition, along with the Red, Teal and Pink, among others. The plastic camera is dipped in a dark blue.

The Azure is identical to the normal Sprocket Rocket in terms of functionality. It is loaded with 35mm film (eBay / Amazon*).

Camera Features

The Sprocket Rocket camera exposes the film, including the perforation, using a super-wide angle lens. One exposure with this camera is approximately the size of two normal images. Thus, with a 36-frame 35mm film, approximately 18 images can be taken with the Sprocket Rocket camera.

The plastic lens of the Sprocket Rocket camera has a focal length of 30 mm and a maximum aperture of f/10.8 (almost f/11). The characteristic features of the corners are achieved by strong vignetting and diminishing sharpness.

The camera offers two exposure times for panorama shots: 1/100 second and Bulb for long exposures. There is no shutter lock, so multiple exposures are possible by releasing the shutter several times. The film can be fast-forwarded and rewound at will. There are two distance settings: one for close-ups (0.6 meter to 1 meter) and one for all other distances (1 meter to infinity).

The camera has a hot shoe for connecting an external flash and a thread for a tripod on the bottom.

Film options for the Sprocket Rocket camera

There is a good selection of photographic film suitable for the 35mm format. A recommended film for the Sprocket Rocket camera is the Kodak Ultramax 400*. This film allows for flexible photography and produces beautiful results.

Film development

It is important to be careful not to cut the film during development, as this can result in damaged images. Making prints with sprocket-rocket images is difficult because most labs do not make prints with the sprockets on them. A good solution is to scan the images and send them to a lab for printing.
