Halina Vision Snapz

  • Manufacturer Halina
  • Type Snapshot camera
  • Type of Film 35mm
  • Max Aperture -
  • Focus Fixed focus

The Halina Vision Snapz is a compact photo device, ideal for spontaneous picture taking. It was produced by the Hong Kong-based company Haking. China is specified as the country of manufacture of the plastic camera.

Features of the device

The 35mm lens of the device is permanently installed. Although the exact focal length is not known, it is likely to be between 28mm and 35mm. There is no built-in autofocus function, instead it is a focus-free device where the focus setting is statically fixed. A sliding cover protects the lens from damage and dirt.

The Halina Vision Snapz is equipped with a built-in light meter. The camera controls aperture and exposure time automatically, eliminating the need for manual adjustment. However, it would also be possible for uniform aperture values and shutter speeds to be used for all recordings.

Of course, the device also has an integrated flash device. However, this model lacks a special "red-eye" reduction feature. There is also a lack of a tripod connection and a self-timer. In return, a wrist strap can be attached to the device.

The camera uses two AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*) for power, although using rechargeable batteries is a reasonable alternative.

Film options for the Halina Vision Snapz

According to the user manual, the Halina Vision Snapz accepts 35mm film. These films are still available from several manufacturers and can be processed.

For example, we recommend the Kodak Gold 200* for color images and the Ilford Delta 100* for black and white images. But other suppliers such as Lomography, Fujifilm, Rollei, Adox and Foma also have suitable films on offer.

Most photo labs offer the development of these films. Prints can usually be ordered directly from the negatives. There is also the option to digitize the negatives and use them as a digital file.

After each shot, the film has to be advanced manually using a thumb wheel on the back. A counting device on the top documents the number of recordings already made. The inserted film can be viewed through a small window on the back.

When the film is fully exposed, it is wound back into its cassette using a crank. Only after this step should the apparatus be opened in order to remove the film and have it developed. If the film is not completely rewound, the camera should never be opened to avoid damaging the film through exposure to light.
