The Shanghai GP3 100 is a black and white panchromatic film. The 120 film is produced in China. It is one of the most affordable medium format films on the market.

The sensitivity of the GP3 is ISO 100. It delivers a very classic black and white look and despite the low price, not a bad quality.

In Germany, it is only available through foreign eBay dealers. It is sold by Lomography under the name Lomography B&W 100 120. This one is a bit easier to get. In addition to medium format film, the Chinese factory also makes sheet film for large format cameras. There is also a 35mm version, but this is not available in Germany or the status of the film is unknown. According to rumors, GP3 is very similar to Kodak Plus-X.

Good results can be obtained by developing in Rodinal. Rodinal is also not as expensive as other black and white developers, making it a very cheap proposition.

One disadvantage of the film is the protective paper. The numbers on it are difficult to see through the red window, making it difficult to work with in dark situations.

This shot was taken with the Agfa Clack. The film was developed for 16 minutes in Kodak XTOL (1+3).

The first two images were taken with the Seagull 4B-1 and developed for 15 minutes at 20 degrees in the Rodinal (1+50) black and white developer.

Storage of the Shanghai GP3 100

To ensure that the subsequent quality of the captured photos is not compromised, it is recommended that the unexposed film material be stored under optimal conditions. The ideal place to store it is cool and dry, as neither heat nor humidity should damage the material. It is advisable to develop the exposed film promptly to ensure the best possible quality of the images.
