The Maco UP 64c is a black and white film. It was offered by the German company Hans O. Mahn & Co. KG.

The MACO UP 64c film is a black and white film with normal-quality panchromatic sensitivity. This film is characterized by high resolution combined with very fine grain. It provides users with remarkable sharpness and has a clear base.

Comparable products on the market mentioned by Maco include films like ILFORD Pan FTM, AGFA APX25TM, and KODAK Panatomic XTM.

The film can be developed as a negative film or slide film. When used as a negative film, the sensitivity is rated at ISO 50. As a slide film, the guideline is ISO 64.

If one wants to increase the sensitivity of the slide film, it can go up to ISO 125/22°, which, however, requires adjustments to the initial development time.

Film Development

The creation of the Maco UP 64c is achieved through the use of a black and white developer. The processing of black and white films is offered as a service by most photo labs, but there is also the option to perform this procedure at home. Different development chemicals each come with their own advantages and disadvantages, which significantly contribute to the final result of the finished images.

Not all film manufacturers provide precise development instructions for the film. Nevertheless, the development process can be initiated using the developer by testing a small section of the film with different development parameters. Once the film development is complete, the captured images are available in the form of film strips. At this point, it’s common to either make prints of the images or proceed with digitization. The possibility of creating prints in various sizes is offered as a direct service by most development studios.

For those who prefer digital images, there’s the option to digitize analog film strips using a scanner. Both professional photo scanners and scanners for home use are available in different price ranges. After digitizing the photos, they can be edited in Photoshop and shared on social media platforms.

Availability

The film material was available for 35mm and medium format cameras. One roll of film accommodates 36 exposures. There is a wide range of compatible models for the 35mm format offered by various manufacturers, including Mamiya, Pentax, and Fujifilm. The number of exposures depended on the exposure format. Among the manufacturers of medium format film cameras are Hasselblad, Agfa, Mamiya, and numerous others.

There is no direct alternative to the Maco film.
