The negative film Maco Macochrome UCN 200 was produced in the early to mid-2000s by HANS O. MAHN GmbH & CO. KG. Today, the film is no longer commercially available.
The film is designed for color photos. The sensitivity is specified as ISO 200.
Storage and use of expired film
It is common for unexposed material from films that are no longer in production to have already passed the printed expiration date. However, unlike food, this does not necessarily mean that the film can no longer be used. One possible problem with old film material is the loss of light sensitivity. In addition to age, storage conditions also play an important role. To overcome this problem, the exposure meter can be set to a lower sensitivity. The storage conditions of the unexposed film can affect the subsequent photo quality.
It is recommended that the Maco Macochrome UCN 200 not be stored in a humid or sunny place. A cool, dry location is best for long-term storage. It is advisable to have the film developed promptly after exposure to avoid image quality degradation.
Film development
The Maco Macochrome UCN 200 is developed using the C41 process. Most German photo labs that offer film development use this development process.
It should be noted that not all photo labs can develop the 127 format. Therefore, it is recommended to explore in advance whether development is possible for this film.
Availability and alternatives
The Maco Macochrome UCN 200 was made specifically for 127-format cameras. The film stock was made up at Efke’s factory in Croatia.
Fresh Maco Macochrome UCN 200 film stock is no longer available as production has been discontinued. There is no direct successor under the Maco brand name.
