Canon EOS Rebel

The Canon EOS Rebel is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of SLR cameras and was built in the 1990s. This model was sold on the US-American market. It is the predecessor of the Canon EOS Rebel S II. The 35mm photo camera was also sold under the name “Canon EOS 1000” in Europe.

With a built-in flash there was a similar model under the name “EOS Rebel S”.

The lenses of the Canon EOS Rebel are interchangeable. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used with the camera. The 35mm camera is equipped with an autofocus.

The Canon EOS Rebel has a built-in light meter. It can use the exposure for films with a sensitivity from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The camera reads the ISO value via the DX code on the cartridge. The correct exposure is measured through the lens. The exposure is set automatically by the camera. Aperture and exposure time can be freely set by the photographer.

The shutter of the EOS Rebel can open from 1/1000 second up to 30 seconds. The camera also has a bulb setting. The shutter remains open as desired.

An external flash unit can be connected via hot shoe. The flash sync speed is 1/90 second.

The built-in self-timer has a twelve-second lead time. Instead of an annoying beeping, it plays music as a “warning”.

The power source of the 35mm camera is a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Canon EOS Rebel

The Canon EOS Rebel is a film camera and is equipped with 35mm film. These films are still in production and can be quoted at almost every supplier of development work. For color photos you can use Fujifilm Superia 400*. The AgfaPhoto APX 400* is a recommendation for black and white pictures.

The color film is processed in the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35mm film. You can hand in your films to most drugstore chains in Germany, for example.

The 35mm camera is only found used. The value of a used copy is mainly measured by its condition and functionality.
