The Canon EOS Rebel S II / Canon EOS Rebel S2 is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera was produced by Canon in the 90s. It is the successor of the Canon EOS Rebel S.
Among other things, the noise development during the transport of the film, the speed of the autofocus and a faster exposure time (1/2000 second) have been improved on this model.
In Europe the Canon EOS Rebel S II was sold under the name “Canon EOS 1000F N” in the photo shops.
The lenses of the Canon EOS Rebel S II are interchangeable. Therefore an EF bayonet was built into the camera. Often you can meet the 35mm camera with the Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 USM. Focusing is made easier by a built-in autofocus.
The camera has a built-in light meter. It is designed for an ISO range from 6 to 6400. The film speed is determined by the DX code. In the SLR camera, the exposure is measured through the lens.
The Canon EOS Rebel S II can set the aperture and exposure time automatically. The options include program, aperture priority and shutter speed. The desired aperture as well as the shutter speed can also be set by the user.
The Canon EOS Rebel S II has a bulb mode. With a tripod, perfect long exposures are possible. Of course, a self-timer is also included.
For pictures in low light a flash light is built in. This has a range of fourteen meters with films of a sensitivity of ISO 100. More power can be obtained with an external flash that can be connected via the hot shoe.
The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.8 x 10 x 6.9 cm. It weighs 470 grams. A 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*) provides the power supply.
Films for the Canon EOS Rebel S II
Without 35mm film nothing works with the Canon EOS Rebel S II. Films of this format are still easily available and are still being developed. A 35mm film for color shots is Agfaphoto Vista 200* and a possible black and white film is Kodak T-Max 100*.
The color film is processed in the C-41 process. The C-41 process is standardized and is offered by most developing laboratories.
The 35mm camera can only be found in used condition. Depending on the condition and functionality the used price varies.
