The Canon EOS Rebel S is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera was built by Canon in the 1990s. It is very similar to the EOS Rebel, but comes with a built-in flash. A little later an improved version of the camera was introduced with the Canon EOS Rebel S II.
Under the name “Canon EOS 1000F” this camera model was sold on the international and European market.
The lenses of the Canon EOS Rebel S are interchangeable. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. The camera has an autofocus.
For taking pictures the Canon EOS Rebel S has an exposure meter. The light meter is designed for films with a sensitivity of ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed is determined by the DX code.
The light meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. Aperture and shutter speed are set automatically by the camera. There are program, time and aperture priority. The exposure time and aperture can be freely selected in manual mode.
With the Canon EOS Rebel S there is a bulb setting. Also a tripod thread and a self-timer are not missing on this snapshot camera.
The Canon EOS Rebel S comes with a built-in flash. This has a range of twelve meters at ISO 100. If you want to use an external flash, this is possible via the hot shoe on the top of the camera. The X-Sync time is 1/90 second.
At a size of 14.8 x 10 x 6.9 cm, the Canon EOS Rebel S weighs 500 grams. The required power for the camera comes from a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS Rebel S
Which films does the Canon EOS Rebel S need to take photos? Films of the 35mm format are used. 35mm films are still produced today and are quite easy to get. One possibility for b/w pictures is the Ilford XP2 Super* of the English company. A possible film for color pictures is the Kodak Gold 200*.
The color film is developed in the C-41 process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35mm film.
