The Canon EOS 1000F N is an SLR camera. The 35mm camera was built by Canon in the 1990s. It is the successor of the Canon EOS 1000F. The autofocus, noise and a faster shutter speed (1/2000 second) have been improved.

Under the name “Canon EOS Rebel S II” the 35mm photo camera was sold on the American market.

With a data backplate for the exposure of the shooting date the camera was available as EOS 1000 F N QD. This model was available in Japan as EOS 1000S QD and with panorama function as EOS 1000S QD-P.

The lenses of the Canon EOS 1000F N can be exchanged. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. Most of the time you will meet the 35mm camera with the Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 USM. With the Canon EOS 1000F N you do not have to focus by hand. The camera has an autofocus.

The Canon EOS 1000F N has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films in a range from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed is read from the camera by the DX code on the film cartridge.

Exposure is measured through the lens (TTL) with the 35mm SLR. The aperture and exposure time are set fully automatically from the 35mm SLR. There are different automatic and scene modes for this. The exposure time and aperture can be freely selected in manual mode.

The camera comes with a bulb setting option. With the bulb setting, the shutter remains open as long as the photographer keeps the shutter release button pressed. A self-timer and thread for a tripod are provided.

The Canon EOS 1000F N comes with a built-in flash. This has a range of fourteen metres at a film speed of ISO 100. An external flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe.

The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.8 x 10 x 6.9 cm. It weighs 470 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera is a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Canon EOS 1000F N

Which film format is the Canon EOS 1000F N designed for? The camera needs films for the 35mm format. These films are still in production and can be quoted by almost every supplier of development work. For color pictures there is the Kodak Portra 160*, for black and white pictures the Ilford Delta 400* is a possibility.

The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. The C-41 process is carried out by almost all photo labs. For example, you can give your films to most drugstores for development.

The Canon EOS 1000F N exposes an area of 24 mm x 36 mm. The film is transported motorized. At the end of the roll the film material is automatically wound back into the cartridge.

The 35mm camera is only available used, because the production has been finished. Depending on the state of preservation the costs for the 35 mm camera vary.
