Canon EOS Kiss III

The Canon EOS Kiss III is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of single lens reflex cameras. It is the successor of the Canon EOS New Kiss. The Canon EOS Kiss III was also sold under the names "Canon EOS 300" (Europe) and "EOS Rebel 2000" (North America).

The new price of the camera was around 64,000 Yen (without lens) when it was introduced.

The EOS Kiss III L or EOS Kiss 3 L, an improved version of the EOS Kiss III, was launched in November 2001. The camera's body is metallic charcoal grey and comes with a metallic mode dial, a stainless steel shutter button and LCD panel illumination for uninterrupted operation in dark conditions. It also comes with a wireless remote control (RC-5).

The lens of the Canon EOS Kiss III is interchangeable. This is made possible by the EF bayonet. Focusing is made easier by a built-in autofocus.

The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. It is designed for films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed (ISO 25 to ISO 5000) can be read out via the DX code.

The SLR camera determines the correct exposure by measuring through the lens (TTL). The 35 mm camera has an automatic exposure control and sets aperture and exposure time automatically. There is also a time and aperture automatic. The aperture and exposure time can also be freely selected by the photographer.

The Canon EOS Kiss III has a bulb mode. For taking pictures in low light conditions there is a built-in flash, which ensures clear pictures. A hot shoe is also available.

The camera weighs 355 grams and measures 14 x 9 x 5.8 cm. Power is supplied by two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*), which is somewhat untypical for the EOS series, but the battery type is easy to get.

Films for the Canon EOS Kiss III

Exposure is done with Canon EOS Kiss III 35mm film. 35mm film is still easy to get, you don't have to worry about it, and is developed by most photo labs. A recommendation for photographing with this camera are for color pictures Agfaphoto Vista 200* and for b/w pictures AgfaPhoto APX 400*.

The color film is designed for development in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo laboratory. Most drugstore chains in Germany offer the development of color films.

The negatives of the Canon EOS Kiss III have a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. In the panorama function the exposure area is reduced to 13 x 36 mm. The film is automatically transported by a built-in motor. This motor achieves up to 1.5 frames per second. The exposure time can be set automatically.

A special feature of this model is that the complete film is wound onto the take-up spool when it is loaded. Each time a picture is taken, it transports the film back into the cartridge. This way, no images are lost if the back cover is opened unintentionally.
