The Canon EOS 1V is a camera from Canon. It is the last update of the professional segment of the EOS family. It is the successor of the Canon EOS 1N and was introduced in March 2000.
The lenses of the Canon EOS 1V can be exchanged. Therefore an EF bayonet was built into the camera. The 35mm camera is equipped with an autofocus. Built in are 45 autofocus points, 7 are cross sensors.
The 35mm camera has an exposure meter. The light meter is built for films with a sensitivity from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed can be read out via the DX code. However, only ISO values from 25 to 5000 can be used. Exposure is measured through the lens (TTL) with the 35mm SLR.
The aperture and exposure time can be set automatically by the Canon EOS 1V (program, aperture priority, aperture priority). The photographer can select the aperture and shutter speed in manual mode as desired.
The shutter of the EOS 1V supports exposure times from 1/8000 second to 30 seconds. The 35mm camera comes with a bulb setting option. The shutter is designed for up to 150,000 exposures.
A flash unit can be used via the Hot Shoe or PC Flash connection. The shortest flash sync speed is specified by the manufacturer as 1/250 second.
The Canon EOS 1V has a thread for a tripod and self-timer. The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 16.1 x 12 x 7 cm. It weighs 945 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera is a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
A special function of the camera is the storage of the recording data. When a picture is taken, the recording data is automatically stored in the integrated memory. The data can later be transferred to a PC for viewing and editing.
At the beginning of each roll of film, an ID is additionally exposed on the film with a small lamp so that the roll can be assigned later.
Films for the Canon EOS 1V
The Canon EOS 1V is a 35mm camera and requires 35mm film. 35mm films are still produced by different producers. For color pictures there is the Kodak Gold 200*, for black and white pictures the Ilford HP5* is a possibility.
Colour film is developed in the C-41 process. C-41 films are developed by almost all photographic laboratories.
The inserted film is transported by the camera. When it is full, it is automatically wound back into the cartridge. Here there is a silent mode (49 dB). This takes 18 seconds for a 36 frame film. In high-speed mode 8 seconds pass until the film is back in the cartridge.
