The Walgreens W Photo 200 is a color negative film. It comes from the range of the US company Walgreens. Walgreens operates a pharmacy and drugstore chain with an extensive presence in the United States. Films from another manufacturer were sold under the trade name W Photo.

W Photo 200 is designed for color photography. ISO 200 represents the specified value for the film’s sensitivity. By default, the ISO value defines the light sensitivity of the film material. Here, the ISO value provides information about the reaction of the film material to light.

Film processing

The film is subject to C-41 processing. Processing can be done in a photo lab, but home development with suitable chemistry is also possible. One advantage of this development method is that it is independent of the laboratory, since a standardized process always produces identical results. With the appropriate photographic chemistry, film can also be developed at home. Developed film strips with the captured images are the final result.

An additional option is to digitize the negatives or make prints from them. In addition, it is usually possible to have photo prints made directly in a variety of sizes.

Digitization process

In order to digitally archive the negatives, they can be captured with a scanner. There are a variety of devices that are suitable for digitizing negatives. Offerings vary in terms of features and quality, with options to suit every budget. Digitized images can be used in a variety of formats, both digital and hard copy.

Availability and Alternative Products

The Walgreens W Photo 200 was available in 35mm format. With a regular image size, 24 shots can be accommodated on a roll of film. The number of frames is noted on the packaging.

The film cartridge was equipped with a DX code. Current cameras have the ability to read the code affixed to the film and automatically set the appropriate film speed.

There is an extensive selection of 35mm cameras from various manufacturers, including Canon, Lomography, and Porst.

Newly produced material of this color film is no longer available. An alternative for 35mm format would be the Kodak Gold 200*.
