The Walgreens Studio 35 100 is a color negative film. Under its own brand, the American drugstore chain Walgreens distributed photographic films for amateur photographers until the 2000s. The color films were first produced by the German company Agfa. Later, material from Japan (Fujifilm) was in the cartridge of the film.

The Studio 35 100 is a film for color photography. The nominal sensitivity of the film is given as ISO 100. The ISO value can be used to determine the sensitivity of the film material to light. An ISO of 100 is good for everyday photography and is supported by most light meters.

Exposure of expired film stock

It is common to still use unexposed film stock that is no longer in production and has already passed its expiration date. However, the manufacturer’s guarantee of the quality of the film up to a certain date should not be used as a measure of its usability.

With older film material and unfavorable storage conditions, underexposed images may occur. Therefore, it is recommended to set a lower ISO value on the camera to avoid this. Proper storage of unexposed film can ensure the quality of subsequent photographs.

Developing the film

To obtain the captured photos from the exposed film, a C-41 process development is necessary. This development process is offered by most photo labs and results in the creation of film strips containing the captured images. In addition, prints can be made in a variety of sizes.

Another option is digitizing with a scanner, which can also be done by many labs or privately.

Availability and alternatives

The Walgreens Studio 35 100 color negative film was produced for 35mm cameras and is no longer available.

There are several manufacturers, such as Lomo, Nikon, and Agfa, that offer cameras for the 35mm format. Some cameras have the ability to automatically determine film speed using the DX code on the cartridge.

Alternatively, the Kodak Ektar 100* can be used as a replacement for the color film that is no longer available.
