The PZ 680 Color Protection is an instant film. It was introduced three months, in December 2012, after Impossible’s PX 70 Color Protection and PX 680 Color Protection.

The biggest novelty of the film, compared to the other Impossible films in the past, is that the PZ 680 CP is no longer light sensitive after ejection. If you had to cover the film immediately after ejection with the predecessors of the instant film, this is no longer necessary with the Color Protection. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t put it in direct sunlight during development, but here it’s enough to simply put the picture in your pocket or upside down on the table.

The development time of the PZ 680 Color Protection is 30 to 40 minutes. This is already a very long time for an instant film. Shaking the image does not shorten the development time.

The color film can be used in Polaroid’s 1200/Image/Spectra cameras. It cannot be used in the Instax, Polaroid 600 or Polaroid SX-70 cameras.

The PZ 680 Color Protection features good colors, strong contrasts and nice sharpness in details. This film also has the typical Image/Spectra format, which means that one image measures 10.2 x 10.3 cm, with the actual photo measuring 9 x 7.3 cm.

The battery for the camera is already in the film. With one pack of the PZ 680, eight pictures can be taken. So if the film counter on the camera shows a 2, you have to change the film.

Impossible advises storing the unopened film at five to ten degrees in the refrigerator. Do not freeze it and before using it should be accustomed to room temperature for min. for one hour.

Update

Impossible has since ceased production of the film. The latest generation of color film for the Spectra/Image format is the Polaroid Originals Color Film for Image & Spectra*.
