The PX 70 Color Protection is an instant film. It is the “successor” of the PX 70 Cool. It was introduced by Impossible in September 2012.

The biggest innovation of this film is, unlike the previous instant films, no longer had to be protected from the light after the camera outputs it. If you photograph in the sun, it is still advisable to put the picture in your pocket for development or put it upside down on the table. For this, however, the image is not developed after a few minutes, but you get the result only after 30 to 40 minutes.

Instant color film delivers saturated colors and good sharpness. This is where Impossible films have come a long way over the years. Of course, the PX 70 Color Protection also delivers the typical features of a Polaroid, such as the white frame and the square image.

The film is designed for Polaroid SX-70 cameras from Polaroid. If you have a Polaroid 600 camera, you need e.g. the PX 680 Color Protection. The sensitivity is specified with ISO 125. Impossible advises moving the light/dark wheel on the camera 1/3 to 2/3 to the dark area.

One pack contains eight images. This means that when the film counter on the camera reads 2, it is time to change the film, not 0. The battery that powers the camera and, if necessary, a flash, is already in the film pack.

The unopened film should be stored at a temperature of 5-10 degrees. Do not freeze it and before use it should be brought back to room temperature.

Update

The production of this film has since been replaced. The current film for the SX-70 format is the Polaroid Color Film for SX-70*. The instant film can be used in the old Polaroid 600 cameras without any problems.
