Praktica Autoreflex S is a SLR camera. It was produced from 1969 to 1975 by VEB Pentacon and sold in West Germany by Ringfoto. The model is identical in functionality to the Praktica L model.
The lenses of Praktica Autoreflex S can be changed. Lenses with an M42 thread can be used. There are many interchangeable lenses for the M42 connection. Praktica Autoreflex S has no autofocus. It is manually focused.
The camera cannot measure the correct exposure because it has not an light meter. The desired shutter speed can be determined manually. The aperture is also individually selectable. The Praktica Autoreflex S has a bulb mode, for example for long exposures. An external flash can be connected via hot shoe.
Films for the Praktica Autoreflex S
The Praktica Autoreflex S requires 35mm films. 35mm films are still produced today and are quite easy to get. Nice films for black-and-white or color images are the AgfaPhoto APX 400* and the Agfaphoto Vista 200*.
The color negative film is developed in the C-41 development process. C-41 films can be developed by most photo laboratories.
The 35mm camera comes with a thread for a tripod. It is also possible to use a cable release.
The camera can today only found in used condition. The cost for buying Praktica Autoreflex S depends on the condition and the accessories.
