The Instax Mini 8 is an instant camera from Fujifilm. It is loaded with the Instax Mini Film* from Fuji. There is no selection, there is only the Instax Mini color film from Fuji.
The Instax Mini 8 was introduced in 2012. It is the successor to the Instax Mini 7S.
One of the most striking innovations is the design of the camera. Above all, the camera is more compact than the 7S. Without film, it weighs around 300 grams. Its dimensions are 116 mm x 118.3 mm x 68.2 mm.
The Instax Mini 8 comes in five different colors, black, white, yellow, blue and pink.
Taking pictures with the Instax Mini 8 is a breeze. Turn on the camera by pressing the button on the lens, wait a moment for the flash to charge, set the correct icon, aim at the subject through the viewfinder, press the shutter button, and the picture pops out of the camera.
There’s no need to focus, as the lens is fixed at 0.6 meters to infinity.
One of the biggest innovations compared to the 7S is the built-in light meter. It sits above the lens and uses a small light on the lens to indicate which setting it advises. With the 7S, you still had to guess this yourself.
The Instax Mini 8 has four settings (cottage, cloudy, sun and strong sun). However, you don’t have to follow the light meter’s recommendations, you can choose yourself which value to set. There is a fifth setting option on the lens, High-Key. With this, you can take high-key shots.
The built-in flash fires with every photo. It cannot be switched off. The camera is powered by only two (the 7S had four) AA batteries (LR6) (eBay / Amazon*).
A small counter on the back of the Instax Mini 8 shows the remaining pictures. Off can be done simply by pushing the lens in. Included with the Instax Mini 8 is the camera, a hand strap, a short manual, and two batteries. The strap can be attached either on the right or left side. Or you can use a strap that you attach to both sides to hang the camera around your neck.
