Fujifilm Instax Mini 12

The Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 is an instant camera from Fujifilm. It is one of the entry-level models in the Japanese manufacturer’s instant photo format. It was introduced in 2023 and is the successor to the Instax Mini 11. The camera is produced in China.

Differences to the Instax Mini 11

The Instax Mini 12 is a small upgrade to the 11 and the differences are minimal. The biggest change is the viewfinder’s parallax correction feature. If close-up mode is selected, the viewfinder image is corrected and centered.

Automatic flash control has also been added. In addition, the camera’s switch-on mechanism has been simplified. A simple twist of the lens activates the camera and switches to close-up/selfie mode.

Slight changes in size and weight, shutter speed and flash performance are also present, but are usually not significant.

The compact camera device is equipped with a built-in prime lens that has a focal length of 60 mm and a maximum aperture of f/12.7.

Note that the lens focus is fixed and manual focusing is not possible. The lens can image objects sharply at a minimum distance of 30 cm. There is a special mode for close-ups. Next to the lens there is a small mirror for selfies.

The Instax Mini 12’s exposure settings adjust automatically, with shutter speeds varying between 1/250th of a second and half a second.

In unfavorable lighting conditions, the integrated flash is used, which offers a range of up to 2.2 meters at an ISO sensitivity of 800. The flash fires with every shot and cannot be turned off.

Although the model does not offer a self-timer or a tripod socket, it guarantees uncomplicated handling and quick snapshots.

The dimensions of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 model are 10.4 x 12.2 x 6.66 cm and it weighs 306 grams. The camera draws its energy from two AA batteries, which ensure a reliable power supply . One set of batteries is enough for about 100 photos, or ten film cassettes.

Films for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12

Using the Fujifilm Instax Mini 12 requires special instant film, with Instax Mini film being the preferred choice. The images captured by the camera are about the size of a credit card, with both color films Instax Mini Film* and black and white films Instax Mini Monochrome* available.

After shooting, the film is immediately ejected and the image development process begins. You can have the finished picture in your hands within just a few minutes. Each film cassette contains ten recordings, allowing you to capture your most beautiful moments instantly.
