The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is an instant camera. It was presented to the public in November 2021 and was also available worldwide a short time later. It comes in two color options, silver-black and silver-brown.
The Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo is a hybrid instant camera, a mix between an analog instant camera and a digital camera. It is equipped with a 1/5 inch CMOS sensor. This sensor, like a digital camera, captures and stores the image. Then you can select the image and expose it on the instant film.
Camera functions
From the normal camera functions, the Evo is very similar to other modern instant cameras, but of course has some special features due to the digital functions.
The camera comes with a fixed lens. The focal length is roughly equivalent to a 28mm lens in 35mm format. It has a maximum aperture of f/2. In macro mode, you can get up to 10 cm close to your subject. Focusing is automatic with the autofocus system.
Exposure settings are set automatically by the camera. The camera automatically selects an exposure time (1/8000 second to 1/4 second) and an ISO value. The sensor supports values from ISO 100 to ISO 1600, and the white balance can be set if desired. There is also an exposure compensation.
Of course, the camera couldn’t be without an integrated flash. The flash is activated automatically when taking pictures. However, it can also be forced Especially in low light conditions, you are often grateful for the flash.
As known from other cameras, there is a self-timer. This has a lead time of 2 or 10 seconds.
Filter effects
A special feature for the instant camera, which is of course not possible with analog cameras, are the selectable filters. Turning the lens triggers a different lens effect. A wheel on the back selects a film effect. Additionally, you can save your favorite combinations with a shortcut.
In total, there are ten lens filters and ten film filters, which means 100 possible combinations.

Films for the Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo
The Instax Mini Evo is designed for the Instax Mini instant format. Fujifilm still produces fresh films for this film format.
There is a color film for color photos (Instax Mini Film*) and a film for black and white images (Instax Mini Monochrome*). There are also other editions with differently printed frames around the pictures.
One picture is about the size of a credit card. The captured image takes up an area of 62 mm x 46 mm. The rest is filled by the frame.
The films are supplied in a plastic cassette. There are ten pictures in it. The images are photosensitive and therefore must not come into contact with light. So you should not tamper with the cassette or open the back of the camera if there is unexposed film in the camera.

One option is to remotely control the camera via the smartphone. This is a useful function for selfies or group pictures. It is even possible that the camera image is transmitted to the smartphone.
Another option is to send photos from the smartphone to the camera via the app and then “print” them. Pictures can also be transferred from the camera to the smartphone.
