The Canon EOS 1000F is a 35mm camera. It belongs to the group of consumer cameras and dates back to the 1990s. In principle, it is the Canon EOS 1000 with an integrated flash. The “F” in its model name therefore stands for “Flash”.
The Canon EOS 1000F is the predecessor of the Canon EOS 1000F N. Among other things, a faster shutter speed of 1/2000 second has been integrated.
In America the Canon EOS 1000F was sold under the name “Canon EOS Rebel S”. In Japan there was the 1000F QD (with data backplane) and 1000F QD-P (with data backplane and panorama function).
The lenses of the Canon EOS 1000F can be exchanged. This is made possible by the EF bayonet. To focus the lens, the Canon EOS 1000F has an autofocus system built in.
For taking pictures the Canon EOS 1000F has an exposure meter. It is designed for films in a range from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The film speed is determined by the DX code on the film cartridge. The correct exposure is measured through the lens.
Exposure settings are automatically set by the Canon EOS 1000F (Program, Time and Shutter Priority). The exposure time can also be set manually. The aperture is also freely selectable.
The camera comes with a bulb mode. A self-timer enables perfect selfies. A thread for a tripod is also included.
There is a built-in flash for taking pictures in low light conditions, which ensures clear pictures. The range is twelve metres at ISO 100. A Hot Shoe flash can be plugged into the appropriate port. The flash sync speed is 1/90 second.
The dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.8 x 10 x 6.9 cm. It weighs 500 grams. The power supply of the 35mm camera is provided by a 6V 2CR5 battery (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS 1000F
Without photo films nothing works with the Canon EOS 1000F. More precisely, the camera needs 35mm film. For this film format there is still a good selection of material for color and black and white images. A nice film for color pictures is Kodak Portra 160* and for black and white pictures Kodak T-Max 400*.
The development of color film is done in the C-41 process. This is offered by almost every photo lab.
The film is transported with an integrated motor. When the film is full, it is automatically wound back into the cartridge.
The 35mm camera can only be found used. The price for a used one depends on the condition.
