The Canon EOS 7S is a 35mm camera. It was introduced to Japanese customers in 2004. It is the successor of the Canon EOS 7. The 35mm photo camera was also sold under the name “Canon EOS 33V” and “EOS Elan 7 NE”.
The lenses of the Canon EOS 7S are interchangeable. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. The camera is equipped with an autofocus. The focus can be controlled with the eye via an IR sensor.
The Canon EOS 7S is equipped with a built-in light meter. It is designed for films in a range from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The camera determines the correct film speed via the DX code.
The light meter is designed to measure the exposure through the camera lens. The correct exposure is automatically set by the camera in program mode. There are several other exposure modes. The exposure time and aperture can also be freely selected.
A bulb mode is available for long exposures. The Canon EOS 7S comes with a built-in flash. The power at ISO 100 is 13 meters according to the manual. An external flash can be connected to the Hot Shoe. The 35mm camera has a self-timer. There is also a thread for a tripod.
According to the operating instructions the dimensions of the 35mm camera are 14.6 x 10.3 x 6.9 cm. It weighs 580 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera are two CR123A batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS 7S
The Canon EOS 7S requires 35mm film according to the operating instructions. For this film format there is still a good selection of material for color and black and white images. For black and white pictures you can use Kodak TRI-X 400*. For color pictures Kodak Gold 200* is a possibility.
The color film is processed in the C-41 development process. This development process is carried out by all photo labs that offer development of 35mm film. So the big drugstore chains in Germany offer something like this for the development of color films.
The exposure area of the Canon EOS 7S has a size of 24 mm x 36 mm. So at least 36 pictures fit on a 35 mm film. The film is automatically rewound by the camera. If desired, the date can be imprinted.
