Olympus OM System

Olympus OM-F

The Olympus OM-F is a 35mm camera. It dates back to the 1980s and was built by the Japanese company Olympus. You could buy the camera on the North American market. In the rest of the world, they serve as Olympus OM-30 over the counter.

The only difference between the two cameras is the engraving of the name.

Features

The camera is equipped with the Olympus OM bayonet and has a manual focus. There is a wide range of lenses for the OM bayonet for diverse applications.

The pentaprism viewfinder provides a clear view of the subject and facilitates focusing. Shutter speeds range from 1/1000 sec to 2 sec and can be set longer in Bulb mode. A built-in light meter helps set the exposure correctly.

Unlike many modern cameras, the Olympus OM-F does not have a built-in flash. Instead, there is a hot shoe and a PC flash port to connect an external flash. The flash sync speed is 1/60 s.

The camera has a tripod socket as well as a cable release socket for taking long exposure shots or continuous shooting. A self-timer is also provided to take group photos or self-portraits.

The Olympus OM-F is powered by 5 LR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*) and was manufactured in Japan.

Films for the Olympus OM-F

35mm film is required for shooting with the Olympus OM-F. Despite competition from digital photography, the 35mm format still has a place in the photography world and there are still some manufacturers that produce for this format. If you want to shoot color, the Kodak Ultramax 400* is a good choice. This film is suitable for a wide range of applications and is rated very highly in reviews. On the other hand, if you want to take monochrome pictures, the Ilford Delta 400* is recommended. This film is also versatile and has received good ratings in test reports.
