Olympus OM-2n

The Olympus OM-2n is an SLR camera. It is a revised version of the Olympus OM-2. The novelty of the model introduced in 1979 is the flash readiness display in the viewfinder and the new hot shoe. The innovation corresponding to the Olympus OM-1n released in the same year.

The lenses of the Olympus OM-2n are interchangeable. This is made possible by the Olympus OM bayonet. The lens is focused manually. The Olympus OM-2n does not have an autofocus.

An exposure meter is built into the camera. In addition, there is an automatic exposure control, where the time is automatically set by the camera, corresponding to the aperture chosen by the photographer. The exposure meter covers a film sensitivity range from ISO 25 to 1600. The automatic exposure can be influenced by exposure compensation by two stops each. It is also possible to set the exposure time and aperture yourself.

For long exposures and there is the Bulb mode. The shutter is opened for a variable time. If you do not want to take pictures with a flash, an appropriate device can be connected to the ports of the camera. Flash units that have a hot-shoe can be used. There is also a PC flash socket.

A tripod can be connected to the Olympus OM-2n. A cable release can also be used with the camera. Additionally, the self-timer can be used for taking pictures. Power is provided by two SR44 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).

Films for the Olympus OM-2n

Without photographic films, nothing works with the Olympus OM-2n. More precisely, the camera needs 35mm films. 35mm films are still manufactured and are developed without problems at most photo labs. A good choice for color and black and white images is the Kodak Portra 160* and the Ilford XP2 Super*. Both films can be used with the Olympus SLR without any problems.
