The Nikon F-501 AF, released in the 1980s, represents a piece of photography history. In the United States it is also known as the Nikon N2020. As a SLR camera in the 35mm category, the F-501 AF is characterized by its robustness and versatile application options.
This model is equipped with a built-in light meter, which makes it easier to take photos in different lighting conditions. The autofocus function, a relatively advanced technology for this time, enables sharp and clear images. The camera also has a Nikon F bayonet, which supports the use of various interchangeable lenses, giving additional dimensions to the photographic possibilities.
Users have a considerable selection of exposure modes at their disposal: manual mode, in which the photographer makes all the settings himself; the aperture priority, where you choose the aperture and the camera sets the appropriate exposure time; P mode, in which the camera makes all settings independently; P Hi, a mode specifically for shooting with lenses larger than 135mm; as well as P Dual mode, where the camera automatically switches between P and P Hi depending on the focal length used.
To ensure additional stability, the camera offers a connection for a tripod. Another highlight is the hot shoe connection, which enables the use of an external flash unit.
Even today you can still take photos with the Nikon F-501 AF without any problems. The necessary 35 mm films (eBay / Amazon*) are still available and can be developed in most drugstores, for example. Practically, the film is transported automatically in the camera. It is compatible with DX-coded films that have a sensitivity of ISO 25 to 5000, while in manual mode you can choose between ISO 12 and ISO 3200.
The F-501 AF is powered by four AA batteries (eBay / Amazon*), which makes it very practical to use.
