Adox

Adox is a German company. In 1860, Dr. Carl Schleussner Fotochemie was founded by Carl Schleussner in Frankfurt am Main. The company is considered the first photochemical factory in the world.

The first products included photographic dry plates. Photographic papers and photographic films followed later. In collaboration with Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen, X-ray films were produced for medical use.

In the 1960s, the patents and formulations of the films and photographic papers were sold to the Yugoslavian company Fotokemika Efke in Zagreb. Films and photographic papers were then produced in Yugoslavia, later Croatia, for a long time. These were based on Adox formulations, but for legal reasons were sold under the efke brand.

At the beginning of the 2000s, the rights to the name Adox were taken over by the Berlin-based company Fotoimpex. Fotoimpex is, among other things, a photo retailer with its own online store. Later, the company began to build its own production facility in Bad Saarow, Brandenburg.

Today, films, photo paper and photo chemicals are offered under the Adox brand.
