The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 is a single lens reflex camera. The 35mm camera is a product of Canon and was presented to the world in 1999. It is the successor of the Canon EOS Rebel G and is aimed at amateurs.
The 35mm photo camera was also sold under the name “Canon EOS 300” (Europe) and “EOS Kiss III” (Japan). With a data backplate for “saving” the shooting time, it was available under the name “Rebel 2000 QD”.
The lenses of the Canon EOS Rebel 2000 can be exchanged. Lenses with an EF bayonet can be used. The camera has an autofocus.
The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 has a built-in light meter. It is designed for films from ISO 6 to ISO 6400. The correct ISO value is read by the DX code (25 to 5000) on the film cartridge and the light meter is set accordingly.
Exposure is metered through the lens. The correct exposure is automatically set by the camera in program mode. There are also other exposure modes and a manual mode.
A bulb mode is available for long exposures. Here the shutter is opened for a variable time. A self-timer and a thread for a tripod are also available.
A built-in flash is available for taking pictures when there is insufficient light. A hot shoe flash can also be used with the Rebel 2000. The fastest shutter speed for flash photos is 1/90 second.
The dimensions of the camera body are 14 x 9 x 5,8 cm. Thereby it weighs 335 grams. The power source of the 35mm camera are two CR2 batteries (eBay / Amazon*).
Films for the Canon EOS Rebel 2000
The Canon EOS Rebel 2000 requires 35mm film. 35mm films are still made by different producers. For color photos you can use Agfaphoto Vista 400*. The Ilford FP4 Plus* is a good choice for black and white pictures. With this camera up to 36 pictures fit on one roll of this film.
The development process for color film is the C-41 process. C-41 films can be developed by most photo labs.
So at least 36 frames fit on a roll of 35mm film. The film in the camera is automatically rewound to the next frame. The motor achieves up to 1.5 frames per second.
A special feature of the camera is that it first unwinds the film completely when it is inserted and then rewinds it back into the cartridge each time a picture is taken. This means that no frames are lost if the back cover is opened accidentally.
